Lecture of Various Communication Techniques
· Broad overview of various communication techniques
· Understand how different communication techniques work in conversation
· How to communicate with people in the hospital setting
· Learn how to use these techniques in order to take ones self out of the conversation and focus solely on the patient.
· Communication techniques that work when people are directing anger at you or making decisions that you may find distressing
· Interactive role-playing
12NOON-1PM Lunch (will be provided)
This will be a day for you to learn new things, network with you peers and find out about some innovative programs throughout the state. Please feel free to bring any ideas that you may have, suggestions and a potential member.
The program will be located at Beth Israel Medical Center, Philips Ambulatory Care
Center. 10 Union Square East. Conference center is on the second floor. Directions are to take the 4, 5, 6, L, N, R trains to Union Square. Union Square is easily accessible from
both Grand Central train station (4, 5, and 6 trains) and Penn Station (N and R trains). Phillips Ambulatory Care Center is at 10 Union Square East, between 14th and 15th Streets on Park Avenue South. Parking (for a fat fee) is available on East 15th St between Irving Place and Union Square, and on East 16th St between Irving Place and Park Avenue South. No vouchers are available.
